Death Magnetic-Metallica

Metallica are
-lead vocalist,rhythm guitarist-James Hatfield
-drummer-Lars Ulrich
-lead guitarist,backing vocalist-Kirk Hammet
-bass guitarist,backing vocalist-Tobert Trujillo

Latest Album-Death Magnetic(picture)
First Album-Kill 'Em All
Most successful Album-Metallica(The "Black Album")

All the die hard Metallica fans waited a long time for this release and most of them were quite disappointed after St. Anger. This album is definitely an improvement on their previous one.

The good part is that it gives us that vintage Metallica flavour. The bad- it is not nearly as good as Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets or the Black Album.

This is the first album of Metallica's to feature current bassist Robert Trujillo and it is also the first album of theirs to be produced by Rick Rubin. It has ten tracks out of which one is an instrumental. There are parts where this album really impresses- others where you feel they could have done better.

Track Listing
  1. That Was Just Your Life
  2. The End Of The Line
  3. Broken, Beat & Scarred
  4. The Day That Never Comes
  5. All Nightmare Long
  6. Cyanide
  7. The Unforgiven III
  8. The Judas Kiss
  9. Suicide And Redemption
  10. My Apocalypse

The first single from this album is The Day That Never Comes. It is also, in my opinion, the best song in the album. Other songs to listen to are The Judas Kiss, The Unforgiven III and All Nightmare Long.

Death Magnetic is an intense heavy metal album pleasing to metalheads though it is far from Metallica's best

The following video is me playing the Unforgiven lead. Hope I've done some justice...

Jon Bon Jovi

John Francis Bongiovi, Jr, better known as Jon Bon Jovi is one of the most celebrated singer-songwriters in the world. He is also an actor but is best known for being the lead singer and founding member of the band Bon Jovi. He was born on the 2nd of March 1962. He has sold over 120 million albums and is also the owner of the Arena Football Team Philadelfia Soul. When he was seventeen jon was working sweeping the floors at his cousin Tony's recording studio. When Meco was there recording, Tony recommended Jon for the song "R2-D2 We Wish You A Merry Christmas". This was Jon's first professional recording. He got his first record deal in 1983.

Jon called up Richie Sambora, David Bryan, Tico Torres and Alec John Such and formed a band. Jon said he wanted a group name. One of the people from the group suggested Bon Jovi. The name stuck even though Jon had to marginally alter his name to suit the band. With the help of manager Doc McGhee, the band released their bebut album- Bon Jovi in 1984. The album recieved the status of a gold album in the US. Their second album 7800 Fahrenheit however got a very poor response. The members of the band had stated that they will never perorm a single song from this album live. Their third album Slippery When Wet was much better. This was largely due to the efforts of new songwiter Desmond Child.

Between 1990 and 1992, the band members went their separate ways. This was after their two year New Jersey tour which consisted of 200 shows across five continents. During this time Jon recorded a solo album Blaze Of Glory which consisted of songs from and inspired by the movie Young Guns II. The album featured guests such as Elton John and Jeff Beck. The title track hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and earned Jon Bon Jovi an Academy Award nomination. Blaze of Glory was awrded the Golden Globe the same year.

In 1992 the band got together an released an album named Keep The Faith. This album was produced by Bob Rock( producer of Metallica's album of the same name otherwise known as the Black Album). In 1994 Bon Jovi released their album Cross Road which was actually a greatest hits album.

In 1997 Jon released another solo album Destination Anywhere. At this time he was handling lead roles in many movies and wrote the songs whenever he had time to.

In 2000 the band released an album Crush which had a smash hit single- It's My Life which was co-written by Max Martin. Bon Jovi's long awaited 9th studio album Have A Nice Day was relased in 2005.

Jon has also done a lot of charity work. He has worked on behalf of the Special Olympics and theAIDs foundation among many other orginazations. He has been named the first Founding Ambassador of the Habitat for Humanity Ambassador program. In 2006 Jon made a $1 million donation to make 28 homes for people in Louisiana who were affected by hurricanes. During an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show the band made a donation of $i million to the Angel Nework foundation.

John Petrucci

I myself am a guitarist, so I decided to post information about a guitarist. I could not think of too many better people than arguably the fastest professional guitarist in the world. John Petrucci was born in the 12th of July,1967. Heis also a songwriter and the lead guitarist of the progressive metal band Dream Theatre. GuitarOne ranked him the 9th greatest shredder of all time.
He got attracted to the guitar in a somewhat unconventional way. He noticed that his sister was allowed to stay up late every night because she was taking organ lessons. So the eight year old John picks up the guitar, but his plan fails and he gives it up after some time. He started playing again at the age of twelve and was invited to join a band by Kevin Moore, the future keyboardist of dream theatre. He practicd earnestly whilst exercising physically. He was a largely self taught guitarist but inspired by Steve Vai,Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Howe, Alex Lifeson and Allan Holdsworth. He jokingly referred to his idols as "the Steves and Als".
Petrucci attended Berkley College of Music in Boston with childhood friend John Myung(future bass guitarist of Dream Theatre) and met Mike Potnoy( future drummer of DT). The three along with Kevin Moore formed the band Majesty which later became Dream Theatre.
In 2001 John was invited by Joe Satriani and Steve Vai to be the third guitarist on the G3 tour. After that he was named the 3rd guitarist another 5 times, more than any other invited guitarist. these live concerts exposed him to a number of fans. This inspired him to record his first solo album-Suspended Animation. Arguably the most popular song from this album is Glasgow Kiss.
Petrucci is respected for his variety of guitar styles and skills. One of the most notable of these is his high speed alternate picking. John uses mostly(if not only) Ibanez guitars and has played Flight Of The Bumblebee (an extremely fast piece composed by Rimsky Korsakov) live.
